AFRICAN BUTTERFLY COMB SIZES

There are three main sizes in the African Butterfly combs.  They are combs with thick teeth, combs with regular size teeth and the smaller Chameleon comb.  A brief explanation and a photo of each is summed up below:

• THICK TEETH COMBS - these are really great for ladies with thick hair.  A couple of ladies who have afro hair have also commented on how great these are.  The thicker teeth are positioned a little further away from each other so that they glide through the hair with ease.  These combs do interlock.
• REGULAR SIZE TEETH COMBS - these combs can be worn by most hair types from thick to fine.  The teeth of these combs are not as thick as the Thick Teeth combs and are slightly closer together.  These combs also interlock.
• CHAMELEON SIZE COMBS - these combs are smaller in size along the spine than the two mentioned above.  The Chameleon comb spine measures approximately 7cm as opposed to the approximately 10cm of the Thick and Regular teeth combs.  Chameleon combs are great for ladies with regular or thin hair.  They are especially wonderful if you have very fine, wispy hair.  Ladies with fine hair feel that the other combs look too big in relation to their hair mass (or lack thereof) and that the Chameleon comb is perfectly sized.  Children also love wearing the Chameleon size comb.  The Chameleon combs interlock.

What's the difference between the combs?

There are a number of combs trading on the market at the moment and it might be a little confusing to know "the real thing" from the others.

The Chinese counterfeit combs have a curvy edge to the spine.  Sometimes the beading pattern on these is actually not much of a "pattern" in the true sense of the word.  If you notice these combs being traded in your area I would love to get an Counterfeit Combs Trading with the trader's name, contact number and company name.

The other combs on the market in competition to the original African Butterfly are called Hair Magic.  These also carry a guarantee for one year but in terms of the strength and durability of the plastic are not as strong as the African Butterfly.  They also do not interlock together in the same fashion.  The pricing is cheaper than that of the African Butterfly.

So .... where does this leave you?  If you want an original African Butterfly comb it will have a tag on it that authenticates it as an original.  You do pay a little more of a premium for purchasing a quality product.  You can guarantee your purchase of your comb by clicking the subscribe link on http://www.africanbutterfly.com.au/

So .... you now have to ask yourself "Do you want to spend a little more money to get a product that is superior or do you want to spend less money now and perhaps have to spend more later on getting the real thing?"  The second option also begs the question "Is this impulse purchase going to give "double beaded hair combs" a bad reputation because you purchased a lesser model?  I hope not.

What's the deal with double beaded hair combs from Africa?

You see these combs being worn by ladies around the shopping centre.  You see ladies at evening functions sporting African Butterfly combs with the most stunning beadwork.  You see people at work wearing the combs.  You see combs whereever you go nowadays.

Seeing the combs being worn is just one aspect - the other is the variety of styles, beadwork and sizes of the combs.  There are regular size (approximately 10cm on the spine) with thin teeth and the regular size with thick teeth for ladies with thicker hair.

Then you find the Chameleon combs which are approximately 7cm on the spine in various brands.  These are great for ladies with finer hair or an alternative for ladies with thicker hair to do the half up style.  Kids are loving these.
